Cookies Policy
Last updated: January 2026 β how AutoHost uses cookies and how you control them.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, keep you logged in securely, and help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. Similar technologies β pixels, local storage and session storage β work the same way, and this policy covers all of them.
2. Cookies We Use
| Type | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the website and client portal to work β login sessions, security tokens, shopping cart. | Session cookies, CSRF tokens, load-balancer cookies |
| Preferences | Remember your settings between visits. | Currency (KES), language, cookie-consent choices |
| Analytics | Help us understand which pages are useful so we can improve them. Data is aggregated and not used to identify you. | Page-view and performance statistics |
| Marketing | Used occasionally to measure campaigns and show relevant offers. | Campaign attribution cookies |
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by services we use rather than by AutoHost directly β for example, embedded maps, payment widgets or analytics providers. We do not control these cookies; their use is governed by the third party’s own privacy policy. We only embed reputable services and keep third-party cookies to a minimum.
4. How Long Cookies Last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set period β typically from 30 days to 12 months β unless you delete them earlier through your browser settings.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the client portal, login and checkout from working correctly.
- Chrome / Edge: Settings β Privacy and security β Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings β Privacy & Security β Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (iPhone/Mac): Settings β Safari β Privacy & Security
- Android Chrome: Chrome menu β Settings β Site settings β Cookies
You can also browse in private/incognito mode, which rejects most persistent cookies automatically.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no industry-wide standard for honouring it yet, but you can achieve the same effect by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings as described above.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology or regulation. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
